The Lake Oswego A Cappella Choir is an auditioned, intermediate-advanced choir of approximately 70 singers. The choir studies and performs a repertoire which spans all styles and eras of great choral music, specializing in the singing of a cappella music (music sung without instrumental accompaniment). The singers rehearse for 90 minutes every other day where they develop healthy vocal technique, strong sight reading and musicianship skills, and engage actively in a dynamic rehearsal process. The ensemble is regularly selected to compete in the OSAA State Choir Championships where they are praised for their engaging and musical performances. A Cappella presents an annual Masterworks Concert with orchestra; past performances include the Fauré Requiem, the Schubert Mass in G, and the Vivaldi Gloria. In addition, the choir travels on a bi-annual performance tour to destinations both domestic (San Francisco, Seattle, New York City, Hawaii) and international (Eastern Europe).
Our 2017-2018 concert season includes our 4 choir concerts, performances at the George Fox University Choral Festival, the Three Rivers League Choral Competition, a performance tour to San Francisco, and the first ever joint masterwork concert with the Lakeridge High School A Cappella Choir, where we will present a performance of selections from Fauré’s Requiem with and Ola Gjeilo’s Dark Night of the Soul with string quartet in addition to solo selections from each choir.
